The Green Club Weeks for Mitsubishi Electric
Challenge.
Practically all associations face increased energy prices and insufficient instruments to compensate for these extra costs. The theme of sustainability offers opportunities for associations to structurally strengthen their financial position by reducing energy costs. More and more associations are seeing great developments and significant savings on energy costs. Yet there are still many associations that want to become more sustainable, but are not sure where to start. Mitsubishi Electric, the sustainability partner of the KNVB, aims to inform, inspire and motivate football associations to get started on making the sports complex more sustainable.
Solution.
On behalf of Mitsubishi Electric, we developed the Green Club Weeks. In cooperation with the KNVB, Mitsubishi Electric focused on making the complex more sustainable and the benefits of a heat pump in various ways during Green Club Weeks. To give clubs an extra push, we mounted a campaign in which clubs had a chance to win one of three premium heat pumps worth € 30,000. In addition, Mitsubishi Electric and the KNVB organized a webinar during Green Club Weeks with plenty of energy-saving tips and information about the various subsidy options, clubs received a weekly newsletter with practical information and Mitsubishi Electric’s KNVB association advisers and experts were on hand to advise clubs personally.
Result.
Almost 400 clubs participated in the first edition of Green Club Weeks. At the start of the 2023/ 2024 football season, brand new heat pumps will be installed at the complexes of SC Den Dungen, Always Forward and VV KHC. After submitting a strong motivation, these three clubs won a premium heat pump worth € 30,000. Energy coach John Williams personally surprised the winning clubs by presenting them with the prize. On to the next edition!
